Jason Bain, Newcastle University

Biography

service hosted by Newcastle University followed by five years in the network team at Imperial College London. In 1999 Jason returned to Newcastle University as a member of the network team. Subsequently his roles at Newcastle have broadened into management and leadership.

In his current role Jason is accountable for Newcastle University’s networking, telephony, servers/storage/operating systems support, data centres and IT systems architecture design to provide the infrastructure to enable teaching, learning and research and business support for the University.

Jason led the IT service design and implementation for University’s medical school campus in Johor, Malaysia as well as providing some wider programme management support to the Johor campus implementation programme. He acts as a relationship manager between the University’s central IT function and the University’s Faculty of Medical Sciences.

Jason’s work interests are: disaster recovery; procurement; VFM; project and programme management; job descriptions and staff development.

In his spare time Jason enjoys swimming, walking, travel and spending time with his family and friends
